For the second time in three years, a Goshen College student took first place in the bi-national intercollegiate C. Henry Smith Oratorical Contest sponsored by Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) U.S. Abby Deaton, a senior communication major from Indianapolis, won with her speech, “The Welcome Table: Discussing Goshen College’s Hiring Policy.”
The annual college rankings are out, and Goshen College continues to move forward among the best U.S. colleges on many lists, including U.S. News & World Report, Washington Monthly and Forbes. Goshen College also received special praise from several independent rankings, including a nod as #3 “Best Christian College” and #4 “Best Nationwide College for Your Money.”
In June, the Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) awarded former Goshen College art professor Abner Hershberger a $2,000 independent artist grant.

The 2014-15 Goshen College Faculty Recital Series will open on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 with a performance by visiting artists and vocal quartet Red Campion. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Goshen College Music Center’s Rieth Recital Hall.
The soothing voices and strong harmonies of Indigo Girls are coming to Goshen College’s Sauder Concert Hall on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 7:15 p.m., the opening concert in the college’s Performing Arts Series.

The Community School of the Arts (CSA) is pleased to announce the appointment of local music educator Kyle Miller as the new director of the Youth Honors Concert Orchestra, an area youth instrumental ensemble for Elkhart County string students in grades 7-9.
