Sales begin April 23 for 2008-09 season tickets to Goshen College’s Performing Arts Series

The 2008-09 season of the Goshen College Performing Arts Series will again bring top name musicians to the college's Sauder Concert Hall stage. Next season's performers will include Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, Christine Ebersole, the Brentano String Quartet, Bobby McFerrin, Eileen Ivers and Immigrant Soul, the Estonia National Symphony Orchestra, the Punch Brothers and the Poncho Sanchez Latin Jazz Band.

Mennonite first-time voters share views on faith and politics with CNN and Chicago Tribune

CNN wanted to speak with Mennonites who are first-time voters this year and learn their views on the presidential election. With the Indiana presidential primary happening on May 6, they decided to visit Goshen College and hear from students about what political issues are important to them, as well as how their Mennonite faith informs their politics.

Advocate for needs in Africa, Mukarabe Makinto-Inandava, to speak at Goshen College Commencement April 27

A native of Burundi, East Africa, who is an advocate for issues challenging developing countries will present the 110th graduating class of Goshen College with a final address of their undergraduate careers during the 2008 commencement on April 27.

Experience the sights, flavors of Cambodia with international luncheon April 15

The international luncheon, which has been an annual part of Goshen College Afternoon Sabbaticals, will introduce Cambodia this year. On Tuesday, April 15, at noon in the College Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall, Professor of Bible, Religion and Philosophy Keith Graber Miller and his spouse Ann, a self-employed design consultant, will present a nation rich with history, a unique culture and smiling faces. The registration deadline is April 4.

President Brenneman says Middle East trip may prompt new educational exchanges

Goshen College President James E. Brenneman called for greater dialogue and exchanges between Christians and Muslims as he concluded a trip in which he led Goshen College board members and supporters to Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.

Lecture to focus on public speaking and performing, March 5

The 2008 Roy H. Umble Master Class in Communication and Theater at Goshen College will feature Shoshana Simons, an associate professor in the Transformative Leadership and Studies program at the California Institute of Integral Studies, and Nika Quirk, a doctoral student in the same program, talking about "Bringing Voice and Body into the Academy" on Wednesday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Umble Center. The lecture is free and open to the public, and a reception will follow.

Goshen history professor says Christian denominations will not disappear

John D. Roth, a Goshen College professor of history and director of the Mennonite Historical Library, says that Christian denominations continue to have great relevance despite evidence of declining membership and eroding loyalty to traditional institutions.

Goshen College president announces retirement of provost, appointment of new vice president for enrollment management and an administrative restructuring

Goshen College President James E. Brenneman announced Friday that John D. Yordy, the college's provost and former interim president, will retire June 30. Brenneman also announced that Executive Director of Enrollment Lynn Jackson has been promoted to the new position of vice president for enrollment management and that the president will supervise campus vice presidents starting next month under a new leadership structure.

Winner of 2008 peace speech contest focuses on ending child labor

The community and college convened on Feb. 5 to hear speeches by five Goshen College students on subjects concerning principles of peace in the 2008 C. Henry Smith Peace Oratorical Contest.
