As presidents of the schools to whom many of you have entrusted the formation of future leaders for our church’s witness in the world we want to say with full hearts, that we hear you:
The assembly of some 8,000 Anabaptists at the Mennonite World Conference this summer in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Pope Francis’s visit to the United States in September, inspired in me an extraordinary hope for the church. I was reminded of the preeminent calling we have as a Christian Anabaptist liberal arts college: to produce graduates who are evermore Christ-like in their character and truly global in their outlook.
By invitation, Goshen College President Jim Brenneman is taking part in a higher education climate roundtable discussion at the White House today, as part of the American Campuses Act on Climate day of action.
The presidents of Goshen College (GC) and Eastern Mennonite University (EMU) announced their voluntary withdrawals from the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) on Sept. 21, 2015.
For now, as we begin this new year, let’s do our best to serve others above self in any and every way we can and so give witness to the GC core value servant leadership.
When Janeth M. Vela and Alexa D. Valdez were seniors at Goshen High School, attending college seemed like a distant dream – though not from a lack of desire or talent.

Keep shining dear graduates. Shine on the poor, the captives, the down and out, those in need, the oppressed, the broken hearted. Shine forth with neighborly love and compassion.
