Yazan Meqbil, a sophomore molecular biology/biochemistry major from Hebron, Palestine, won the top prize of $500 at the annual C. Henry Smith Peace Oratorical Contest with his speech titled “Beyond Occupation of Mind and Body.” His speech will also be entered in Mennonite Central Committee’s bi-national intercollegiate oratorical contest.
Goshen College students were recognized with seven national awards at the Broadcast Education Association’s (BEA) annual Festival of Media Arts competition. This is the most ever for Goshen College in this competition.
Goshen College has again been named one of the top 100 best college values among all liberal arts colleges by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance for 2017.
For the seventh consecutive year, Goshen College’s radio station, 91.1 FM The Globe, has been nominated as a finalist for “Best College Radio Station in the Nation” by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting Systems, having won twice (2011 and 2013), the first station in the country to claim the title more than once.
Achieng Agutu, a junior public relations major, was one of 15 Indiana students to be recognized for excellence in journalism at the Hoosier State Press Association's Better Newspaper Contest and Newsroom Seminar on Dec. 3 in Indianapolis.
Twenty-five fall student-athletes have been recognized by the NAIA, including 14 from the women's soccer team, the most of any NAIA schools.

Gilberto Perez, Jr., senior director of intercultural development & educational partnerships at Goshen College, is the recipient of two awards: Teacher of the Year 2016 by the Indiana Governor’s office and the Indiana Latino Expo (ILE) and the 2016 Chickadee Bird Award from the Indiana Undocumented Youth Alliance (IUYA).
