Learn about the unique history of Spain and Portugal while enjoying the tastes of their cultures at the Afternoon Sabbatical international luncheon on Oct. 14. Dean Rhodes, associate professor of Spanish, and Annette Johnson, who has lived in Spain for the past 15 years, will present the program “Portugal and Spain: Common Neighbors with an Uncommon Past” at noon in the college’s Church-Chapel Fellowship Hall.
Community School of the Arts Piano Program Director Dr. Luke Norell will present a solo piano recital in the Goshen College Music Center’s Rieth Recital Hall on Sunday, Sept. 28. The recital will begin at 4 p.m.
Goshen College art professors Kristi Glick, Randy Horst, Merrill Krabill, Leslie Miller and John Mishler will present selections of their own work in a faculty exhibit from Sept. 28 through Nov. 9. A reception will take place on Saturday, Oct. 4, 5-7 p.m. in the Music Center’s Hershberger Art Gallery.
Goshen College alumni and friends are warmly invited back to campus for Homecoming Weekend, Oct. 3-5. In addition to reuniting with classmates, highlights of the weekend include alumni awards, a music gala, a hymn sing, an art exhibit, kids’ activities, an alumni bike ride, alumni author book signings, campus tours, a Frisbee tournament, soccer game and the world premiere for two peace plays.
The 2014-15 Afternoon Sabbatical series will begin with compelling stories from Abner and Anne Hershberger, former Goshen College professors, on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 1 p.m. in the Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall.
Organist and former Bluffton College music professor Stephen Jacoby will open the 2014-15 Goshen College Rieth Chamber Series with a recital on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014 at 4 p.m. Jacoby will perform on the Goshen College Music Center’s Taylor & Boody pipe organ in the Music Center’s Rieth Recital Hall.
The 2014-15 Goshen College Faculty Recital Series will open on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 with a performance by visiting artists and vocal quartet Red Campion. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Goshen College Music Center’s Rieth Recital Hall.
