During Goshen College’s Homecoming Weekend on Oct. 3-5, the college honored five exceptional alumni with awards for their commitment to the college’s core values.
Goshen College alumni and friends are warmly invited back to campus for Homecoming Weekend, Oct. 3-5. In addition to reuniting with classmates, highlights of the weekend include alumni awards, a music gala, a hymn sing, an art exhibit, kids’ activities, an alumni bike ride, alumni author book signings, campus tours, a Frisbee tournament, soccer game and the world premiere for two peace plays.
An activist, war resister and former student at Goshen College, Sam Steiner’s personal struggle with pacifism is brought to life in the play “Gadfly: Sam Steiner Dodges the Draft.”
During Goshen College’s Homecoming Weekend 2013 on Oct. 4-6, the college will honor four exceptional alumni with awards for their commitment to the college’s core values.
October 2013 events include Homecoming Weekend, an Afternoon Sabbatical featuring former Goshen College President Shirley H. Showalter and "An Evening with Garrison Keillor."

In addition to reuniting with classmates, highlights of the weekend include the 60th anniversary celebration for the nursing department, a music gala, a hymn sing, an art exhibit, kids' activities, alumni bike ride, alumni author book signings, campus tours, a Frisbee tournament, soccer game and the play “Gadfly: Sam Steiner Dodges the Draft,” a true story about a Goshen alum set primarily at the college.
Former Goshen College president Shirley Hershey Showalter released a new memoir today, “Blush: A Mennonite Girl Meets a Glittering World.”

The 2012 Culture for Service Awards will be presented to John Driver ’50 and Rebecca (Kreider) Pries ’66. The 2012 Decade of Servant Leadership Award will be given to Grant Rissler ’99. The 2012 Dr. Roman Gingerich Champion of Character Award will go to Keith Springer ’69, and the Dr. Ruth Gunden Champion of Character Award will go to Sue Roth ’66.
