Moira Smiley & VOCO, a women’s vocal ensemble, will present their diverse repertoire ranging from American folksong to Eastern European music on Friday, Jan. 17. The visiting artist concert will take place at 7:30 pm in Sauder Concert Hall in the Goshen College Music Center.
Author, quiltmaker and Goshen College graduate Janneken Smucker will be on campus on Jan. 13 and 14 to speak about her new book, “Amish Quilts: Crafting an American Icon,” which explores how Amish quilts evolved from practical bed linens to contemporary art. The book was included in the New York Times Holiday Gift Guide for 2013.
January 2014 events include a concert by the King's Singers and the Martin Luther King Jr. Study Day events.
Eva Lapp and Brynn Godshall have a lot in common: they both sing in the Women’s World Music Choir at Goshen College, love ice cream and share a passion for peace studies. But Lapp, a junior from Goshen, and Godshall, a freshman from Lancaster, Pa., might never have become friends if not for a new student-led initiative called Campus Connections.
During a chilly November weekend, 45 student leaders from eight colleges and universities gathered for a sustainability summit at Goshen College’s Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center. The goal of the sustainability summit was to bring students from area institutions together to learn, network and brainstorm ways to make their home campuses more sustainable. This year's focus was on food.
Andrew Landis has been traveling since he graduated from Goshen College in 2009 to work with opera companies across the country, and for the first time, he will see one of the productions he worked with air nationally on television.
The Goshen and Fairfield high school choirs, directed by Marcia Yost and Ben Kambs, respectively, will provide a musical program for the Goshen College Afternoon Sabbatical on Dec. 10. The program will take place in the Goshen College Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall and is free and open to the public.
