The upbeat sounds of the Pink Martini orchestra will be heard in Goshen on Friday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m. for a Performing Art Series concert in the Goshen College Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall.
Dr. Christopher Fashun and Ben Runkel will offer a percussion performance of various genres and sound combinations, including both Western and Brazilian percussion, during the March 11 Afternoon Sabbatical at Goshen College. The program will take place at 1 p.m. in the Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall and is free and open to the public.
Seven Goshen College senior art majors will showcase their work in the Music Center’s Hershberger Art Gallery between March 9 and April 13.
The Goshen College International Student Club (ISC) will offer dinner and a show during their annual ISC Coffeehouse on Saturday, March 8. The evening will begin at 5 p.m. with a student-catered international meal held in the College Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall. A show featuring international music and dance will follow at 7 p.m. in the Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall.
Mary Rose Norell, a Community School of the Arts piano instructor, will present a solo piano recital in the Goshen College Music Center’s Rieth Recital Hall on Sunday, March 9. The recital will begin at 4 p.m.
Born and raised in Kansas, Scott Dooley discovered a love for clay as a senior in college, and has been a potter ever since.
Oboist and Goshen College oboe instructor Jennet Ingle will present a recital of oboe transcriptions on Friday, March 7. The recital will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Center’s Rieth Recital Hall.
Trevor Bechtel, associate professor of religion at Bluffton (Ohio) University, will present the 2014 C. Henry Smith Peace Lecture on Monday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Goshen College Administration Building Room 28. Bechtel will speak on “The already peaceable kingdom: A bestiary of peaceable living.” The lecture is free and open to the public.
The Goshen College Women’s World Music Choir will conclude their spring break tour to Pennsylvania with a “home concert” in the Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 7:30 p.m.
March events include a concert by Pink Martini, an Afternoon Sabbatical featuring percussion music, and the spring mainstage opera.
