During high school, Peter Fairfield '02, Dan Steller, David Wingfield, and Peter Fairfield were all in the same graduating class of ’98 at Eastern Mennonite School. Now, the three are part of a team racing against time to help preserve the Ojibwe language.
Knowing there has to be a better way than simply swiping left or right, Emily Stutzman '08 decided to bring community back to online dating, like how it used to be. Friends making recommendations and connections for other friends. And in bringing back community, she hopes to also bring back the humanity. She shared that idea in her TEDx Portland Talk.

Marion “Mario” Wenger, retired professor of German at Goshen College, died in Goshen on September 21, 2023. He was 91 years old. Wenger was a professor at Goshen College for 25 years, from 1963 to 1988. He taught a variety of German and linguistics classes at Goshen, as well as spending time as the chair of humanities and of humane studies.

Unless you’ve had your head buried in the sand this summer, you’ve probably heard of the Merlin Bird ID App. It’s a creation of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology that allows you to identify birds you see or hear, with ease. Over the course of this year, it’s been downloaded by millions of people who use it to identify thousands of species of birds based on their song. And the man behind the app is 2006 Goshen College graduate named Drew Weber.
Goshen singer/songwriter Sadie Gustafson-Zook '17 began performing music in Goshen as a fiddle player in the family band at the age of six.
Janneken Smucker, a foremost authority on Amish and other American quilts, will give a gallery talk on Saturday, September 16, at 2 p.m. in the Goshen College Library Gallery.
