Goshen College cut the ribbon and opened the doors to the newly completed Westlawn renovation Wed. afternoon, which includes the college’s new Center for Nursing and Public Health. Program leaders and students giving guided tours and demonstrations through what they call a state-of-the-art teaching facility.
Goshen College is stepping boldly into the future with the new Center for Nursing and Public Health in the renovated historic Westlawn — a state-of-the-art facility created through deep community partnership. The college marked the occasion with a public ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for the whole building on Wednesday, May 7.
Join us on May 7 from 3-5 p.m. for a celebration of the newly renovated Westlawn! This event will feature a special program with ribbon-cutting, guided tours, live music and refreshments. It is open to all who want to experience this renovated space for gathering, dining and learning.
In Fall 1950, the eight members of Goshen College’s first-ever nursing class were welcomed by a sparklingly new, well-equipped “Nursing Arts Laboratory.” The lab supplanted the easels and paints of the former art room in the southwest corner of the Science Hall’s lower level.

Goshen College and Greencroft Communities are partnering in a new program, Maple Fellows, to place Goshen College students in various organizational jobs at Greencroft Goshen while also earning money towards their tuition.

There is a critical shortage of healthcare professionals in the region that preceded and was exacerbated by the health crisis of COVID-19. The college’s talented faculty lead a world-class program, but are presently in crowded spaces that limit the growth of these outstanding and high-demand programs. New facilities in Westlawn will provide space for an expanding portfolio of nursing and public health programming to meet the growing needs of healthcare.
