Being a math major really helped me understand the concept of learning and big-picture thinking. My math classes forced me to understand why I am doing each small operation, even as simple as addition, so I had to learn why everything works instead of just how to use it. This really helped me tutor students in math because I could dive deep into why everything works and help show them the “why,” and that made concepts stick.

What it costs, and how aid helps
As a mathematics major, you’re automatically considered for an academic scholarship of $14,000 to $20,000 a year when you’re admitted. You can also apply for the President’s Leadership Award(full tuition), the First Gen Leadership Award ($25,000/year), or the Dream Award (up to full tuition). Adding an information technology major or minor makes you eligible for the $1,500 Gorsline Academic Award.
