Then you might want to look closer at Goshen College’s computer science and information technology programs.

The information technology major and minor at Goshen College equips students with the ability to design, create, and critically evaluate a broad range of information artifacts using computational means, computer networks, database development, and software applications. Through these programs, students learn to become innovative problem-solvers, using their skillsets for the good of humanity.

Graduates have developed software and websites, worked as engineers, and studied astrophysics. Others now work for Google and Apple or have started their own businesses.

    Learn by Doing

    Hands-on experience is built into everything we do. From your first year to your final semester, you’ll apply what you’re learning in real-world settings:

    • Internships: All IT majors complete at least one internship, and many students do more. Past placements include tech startups, design agencies, healthcare IT teams, and campus departments.

    • Maple Scholars: Join our signature summer research program and collaborate with faculty on independent, faculty-mentored research in emerging tech fields.

    • Competitions and clubs: Test your skills through the Association for Computing Machinery’s annual Programming Competition, and connect with peers through student groups like GC’s chapter of Digital Eve (supporting women in tech).

    • Community-focused tech: Work on projects that support people with disabilities, promote accessibility, or solve challenges in local schools and organizations.
