Education majors begin working with students in their first year. Before student teaching, you will have numerous opportunities to gain experience in local schools, observing, tutoring and teaching alongside highly-qualified teachers.
Preparation extends beyond traditional walls. There are opportunities to lead lessons at Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center.

My experience in the Teacher Education program was a very positive and transformative experience. Every professor I crossed paths with was not just someone who deepened my learning, but a person who challenged me, listened to me, and pushed me to grow as a teacher and a leader but most importantly as a man.

The MAT is designed for career changers who have an undergraduate degree in a field other than education. The program leads to both a master’s degree and an initial teaching license and is built around research and experience in today’s diverse classrooms.
