Math Contest and Conference

April 6, 2019

Nine Goshen College students participated in the 2019 Indiana Colleges Mathematics Contest at the University of Indianapolis on April 5, 2019. Forty teams of up to three students each from Indiana colleges and universities competed by answering eight mathematics problems during a two hour period. The Goshen College team of Ebtihal Mostafa, Ryan Haggerty, and Christopher Harnish took 14th place; the Goshen College team of Rae Ann Miller, Christian Stoltzfus, and Spencer Aeschliman took 21st place; and the Goshen College team of Nick Schrock, Luke Rush, and Levi Glick took 24th place.

After the contest, everyone remained for a banquet and the after dinner talk “A Glimpse at the Horizon” by Dr. Deanna Haunsperger. While the rest of the students returned to Goshen, Ebtihal and Levi remained with David Housman for the remainder of the Indiana Section of the Mathematical Association of America spring meeting held April 5-6, 2019. Everyone enjoyed the road trip, contest, and talks!
