After graduating Zach moved to Pittsburg and enrolled in a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program at the University of Pittsburgh, specializing in digital libraries, and began working on touch screen software for medical records in Kenya and Malawi.  After graduating he continued working as a programmer for Boabab Health.  He now is a doctoral student in the University of Pittsburgh’s Biomedical Informatics Program.

“The research I am doing as a Ph.D. student in the field of Biomedical Informatics is building on the research and writing skills that I first learned as an undergraduate history major at Goshen College.  A background in history and the international service experiences that Goshen provided for me have helped to prepare me with a cultural awareness that is critical for the work I am doing in medical informatics in Malawi.”
