Entrepreneurship

The entrepreneurship program encourages creativity, innovation, and new ways to solve problems.  Students are encouraged to apply entrepreneurship concepts in starting a new business or organization, solving a complex problem, or finding new ways to operate in an existing organization.  In the entrepreneurship program students will have the opportunity to start a real business, experience the challenges and opportunities of running an organization, closely examine the feasibility of a new business or idea, and create a business plan.

Entreprenuership grants provide students with funds to start a business or grow an existing business.  The application process includes submitting a written proposal and making a presentation to business department faculty.  Grant recipients have started or developed existing businesses in website design, magazine publication, real estate rehabilitation, and apparel design.

Students interested in entrepreneurship can apply their skills by becoming a member of the Java Junction management team.  Java Junction is an on-campus coffee shop run by students.  Students can sign up for the course, Java Junction Management, and receive academic credit for their work as a member of the management team.  Applications for those interested in being part of the management team are available in the business department.
