At Goshen College we offer teaching licensure in both elementary education and secondary education. Our program is designed to help you get the training you need to transition from your current path to a fulfilling career in the classroom. Elementary Education (K-6)
Elementary education is a rewarding calling that goes beyond just teaching the curriculum. As an elementary teacher you mold young minds, fostering creativity and instilling in students the passion for lifelong learning. Our in-person elementary education program includes a variety of classroom-based experiences that allow you to learn the craft from some of the best teachers in the county.

Secondary Education (5-12)
As a secondary teacher, you help young people navigate the transition from childhood to adulthood. In addition to instilling a passion for your subject area, you are a mentor, guide, and advocate for young adults who are addressing big questions about their identities and futures. Our program gives you the research-based knowledge and skills to turn your passion for youth and your subject area into a meaningful career. With our program, you can become certified in American Sign Language, Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Physics, Social Studies, Spanish, Theater, or Visual Art.

Candidates for physical education, visual art, or music may have their content methods course in a different semester; ask the Director of Transition to Teaching for current scheduling information.

Cost
The adult and continuing studies rate for 2024-25 is $510 per credit hour.
Application and Transfer Credits
In general, this program does not offer credit or course waivers for prior work experience. We do accept up to two courses taken at accredited colleges and universities. Official transcripts must be provided.
Applicants must submit all necessary materials by June 1 to be considered for preliminary admission.
