8:15 a.m. — Placement Testing | College Church, Fellowship Hall
Students who have not completed the required ALEKS Math Placement test or want to take the foreign language placement test can do so before Check-In. Students who signed up for the ASL Placement Test will do so now.
Students will check in at the Fellowship Hall before being walked to the computer lab.
9 a.m. — NSO Check-In | College Church, Fellowship Hall
Pick up your NSO folder and name tag and confirm your GC login information. Continental breakfast provided. Students can also sign up for the afternoon campus tour.
9:30 a.m. — Welcome & Academic Overview | College Church, Chapel
The Office of Orientation, Transition, and Retention (OTR) will provide an overview of the day and what to expect from attending New Student Orientation.
The Registrar’s Office, Core Director, and Global Education Director will provide academic information in preparation for the day’s sessions and course registration.
10:15 a.m. — Writing Assessment (students) | College Church, Fellowship Hall
Students – here’s your chance to show off your academic writing savvy. You’ll be given a prompt and asked to write two academic paragraphs. The assessment places you in the correct CORE 110: Academic Voice section and provides a baseline of what you can do. You’ve got this!
10:15 a.m. — Paying for College: What you need to know (parents and families) | College Church, Chapel
Parents and families will meet with the Student Financial Services Office to learn about the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), payment plans, and key deadlines. Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the financial processes at Goshen College.
11 a.m. — CORE 100 Introduction (students) | College Church, Fellowship Hall
All first-year students take CORE 100: Identity, Culture, and Community in the fall semester. In this session, students will learn more about the course, building community, successfully transitioning to college, and understanding courses on a schedule.
11 a.m. — Student Life Overview (parents and families) | College Church, Chapel
Parents and families will meet with members of Student Life to learn more about housing, health and wellness, and accommodations at Goshen College.
11:45 a.m. — Lunch | Westlawn Dining Hall
Complimentary lunch provided. Students, parents, and family members will have an opportunity to eat lunch together.
12:45 p.m. — Building Success | College Church, Fellowship Hall & Koinonia Room
Students and families will get the inside look at college. Explore a sample realistic college schedule and resources to jumpstart your success. The Academic Success Center team will also assist you in navigating the next steps on your GC journey, providing an overview of MyGC, reviewing the Moodle orientation modules, and completing the advising questionnaire.
1:45 p.m. — Closing | College Church, Chapel
Learn more about the next steps for the summer and what to expect during August.
2 – 3:30 p.m. — Information Fair | College Church, Fellowship Hall
Students received a checklist in their folder identifying which Pre-NSO steps they have completed. During the Information Fair, any student who needs to complete their checklist items or has questions can access campus departments. Students will submit their completed checklists before leaving.

03 | Information Technology Services (ITS): Submit your Laptop Selection Form
04 | Campus Housing: Submit your Student Life Residence Form and Emergency Contact Form
05 | Center of Health & Wellness: Submit your Student Health Information Form and upload your immunization records or exemption form
06 | Registrar’s Office: Requesting your transcripts, viewing your course schedule in MyGC, and Advising Questionnaire
07 | Academic Success Center (ASC) & Accessibility Services: Academic support at GC, submit the Accommodation Request Form to request accommodations
08 | Student Success: Review the POST-NSO tasks on the New Student Checklist, pick up copies of Conexiones
09 | Campus Safety: Register for a parking pass
10 | Athletic Department: Confirm next steps regarding eligibility
11 | Admissions Office: Pick up your deposit sweatshirt, meeting spot for the campus tour
12 | ITS Media: Take your ID picture and collect your card, or pick up your ID card (if you submitted your photo online)
13 | Orientation: Submit your completed New Student Checklist
3 p.m. — Campus Tour | College Church, Fellowship Hall
The campus tour will depart from the Admissions table at the Information Fair.
