2018-19 is third year of traditional undergraduate enrollment growth

The number of traditional undergraduate students attending Goshen College continues to rise for the third straight year, with overall enrollment remaining steady for the 2018-19 school year.

Overall fall enrollment is 927 total students, with 762 traditional undergraduate students, 83 students in adult programs and 82 students in graduate programs. This is a two percent growth in traditional undergraduate students over last year.

Goshen College welcomed an incoming class of 200 first-year students, making it the first time in a decade for enrolling 200 or more such students in consecutive years. In addition, 51 students transferred to Goshen.

“We are thrilled to welcome our 251 new students to Goshen College,” said President Rebecca Stoltzfus. “Our first-year class brings a strong academic profile, and our student body is the most diverse overall in the history of the college. I look forward to discovering what they will bring to our community.”

For the ninth year in a row, the traditional undergraduate student body continued to become more diverse. Overall, 43 percent are students of color or international students, and 45 percent of first-year students identify as non-white.

Enrollment of Latino students is again high, with 30 percent of incoming first-year students identifying as Hispanic or Latino, bringing the overall percentage of traditional undergraduate students on campus who identify as Hispanic or Latino to 25 percent, a number that has steadily risen from six percent in the past decade.

With the addition of the Doctor of Nursing Practice program this year in partnership with Eastern Mennonite University, this is the most students in GC’s graduate programs since the college began offering master’s degrees in 2007.

Eighty-three students are in adult degree completion programs, which include social work, an on-site and online nursing R.N. to B.S.N. program and teacher certification programs of  Transition to Teaching and English Learners Licensure add-on.
