Students may connect their personal devices to the Goshen College network from their dorm rooms or from off-campus housing.
Network Device Registration Instructions
Connecting a Personal Computer to Wifi or Ethernet
- If connecting your personal computer to the wifi network, choose the wifi network of “eduroam”. When prompted, enter in your GC email address (including the @goshen.edu) and your GC password.
- If connecting your computer via Ethernet cable,
- connect an Ethernet cable to your computer, and plug it into the Ethernet jack in the wall of your room. If you don’t have an Ethernet cable, you can borrow one from the ITS Help Desk. We are located in the basement of the Union building.
- open a web browser on your computer.
- you will be redirected to a login page where you will enter in your GC email address (including the @goshen.edu) and your GC password.
- Logging in will register your computer automatically.
Connecting Other Devices
If you are connecting a device such as a gaming console, smart TV, personal printer, Chromecast, Amazon Fire Stick, etc, you will need to register those devices on the GC network.
- In a web browser on a computer, go to https://netreg.goshen.edu
- When prompted, enter in your GC email address (including @goshen.edu) and your GC password.
- In the bottom left, click on Devices.
- Click Create Device to register your device in NetReg, and fill out the form that appears:
- Enter in your devices MAC address. If you are unsure of how to locate the device’s MAC address, see the instructions below.
- In the Device Name field, give your device a name. The name should be something like your username and the device type.
eg. TMiller X Box - If you want other people to be able to use/access your device, you will need to add their GC usernames to the Shared With section. You can always edit the record and add people at a later date.
- Leave the other settings as they are. Don’t make any other changes.
- Click the Create button.
- You will be presented with a password to be used with your device. Write down the password.
- Next, connect your device to either wifi or by Ethernet.
- If connecting your device to the campus wifi, choose to connect to the “GC Personal” wifi network.
- enter in the password that you were given when you registered your device in NetReg.
- If connecting your device via an Ethernet cable, connect an Ethernet cable to your device, and plug it into the Ethernet jack in the wall of your room. If you don’t have an Ethernet cable, you can borrow one from the ITS Help Desk. We are located in the basement of the Union building.
- You should not need to enter in the password that you were given when you registered your device in NetReg. But, keep that password handy in case you ever switch the device’s connectivity over to wifi.
- Repeat this process for each device that you wish to register. Note, that each device will have its only password assigned to it that you will enter in when you connect each device to the campus wifi.

Locating the MAC Address on a Game Console
Xbox 360

Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard and select Network Settings. Select Edit Settings.

From Additional Settings, select Advanced Settings.

Select Edit Settings.

At the bottom of this screen you’ll see a heading called Wired MAC Address.
Xbox One

Navigate to the Settings page

Select Network
-
Select Advanced Settings

MAC address will be listed next to MAC on the right hand side of the screen.
PlayStation 3

From the main menu, select Settings.

Select System Settings.

Select System Information.
-
The MAC address will then be displayed on the screen.
PlayStation 4 and 5

Arrow up and over to Settings in the PS4 menu.

Scroll down to Network

Scroll down to View Connection Status

The MAC Address will be listed next to “MAC Address”
Wii U
-
From the Wii U Menu, select “System Settings.”

Using the Left Stick select the “Internet” icon and press the A Button.

Select “View MAC Address” and wait a moment for the MAC address to be displayed.
Nintendo Switch

Select “System Settings” from the HOME Menu.

Scroll down through the menu and select “Internet.”

The Nintendo Switch console’s MAC address will be listed under “System MAC Address.”
