Afternoon Sabbatical committee

The Goshen College Afternoon Sabbatical series will celebrate its 40th and final season during a high tea event on Tuesday, April 10, at 1 p.m. in the College Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall. This event is free and open to the public.

Current and past Afternoon Sabbatical Committee members will share music, memories and more as they look back at the history of the Afternoon Sabbatical program, which was started in the 1977-1978 college year.

The series was designed by a group of community women to offer community access to the knowledge and talent of Goshen College faculty. The series involves free lectures and concerts along with an annual international luncheon, in which attendees could sample the food and take in a presentation about a specific country.

The idea of offering campus programs for the community came from Beth Rieth, a friend of the college, and Naomi Hunsberger, whose husband Arlin is the former director of international education at GC. They gathered a group of local women to serve as the first Afternoon Sabbatical committee, and the series was born.

Space is limited. To reserve your place at a table, please register. Call 574.535.7564 or email aftsabb@goshen.edu by March 30.
