Imagining Community: The Art of Sylvia Gross Bubalo

“(1928-2007),” opens in the Library Gallery on Monday, August 12.  The works of art are organized around major themes that emerge in her unusual, colorful work.  The paintings and drawings have been selected from the large collection of her life work given to the Mennonite Historical Library by her estate.  Sylvia, a sister of Leonard Gross, graduated from Goshen College in 1951 and from the Art Institute of Chicago.  A public reception will be held September 8, at which time a catalog of her work will be released.  Ann Hostetler, Leonard Gross and Faye Peterson are curators of the exhibit, which is sponsored by the Mennonite-Amish Museum Committee and made possible by a gift from the Bubalo estate.
