Determining your balance: Once you have received your Financial Aid Notification and accepted it on the MyGC Financial Aid portal, the next step is to set up a Nelnet plan for the remaining balance due. You can find your balance due at the bottom of their Financial Aid Notification under the heading “Estimate of how much I owe for the year.” The amount due in the fall should be half that amount (minus the $200 enrollment deposit for first year students). For example, if your student’s report lists $10,000 as the estimated remaining cost for the year after grants and loans, their Fall responsibility would be $5,000: 10,000 / 2 = $5,000 ($4,800 for first years who made the $200 deposit). Once you retrieve your preliminary fall bill through MyGC in July, you can contact accounting@goshen.edu to adjust the payment plan amount if needed.
Payment processing: All down and full payments are processed immediately. Payments are processed on the 1st of each month and will continue until the balance is paid in full. If you choose to pay with a credit or debit card, a convenience fee in addition to the enrollment fee will be assessed. A returned payment fee will automatically be assessed for any payments missed. Nelnet payments take 5 business days to process, transfer to the college, and get credited to student accounts. Please plan ahead.
Adjustments are manual: Please do not assume your balance will automatically be adjusted if financial aid is received or a class is dropped or added. You should review your agreement balance online through Nelnet and call the Goshen College Accounting Office at (574) 535-7513 to request needed changes.
