Psychology Internships

Potential senior psychology internships at Goshen College:

  • Oaklawn – large community mental health community with multiple levels of service to children, adolescents and adults. Interns often work as needed and typically are employed for pay.
  • New Paris Elementary School – work with the school counselor, one-on-one with an elementary student, help co-lead groups
  • NeuroCare Center – medical center in Goshen that treats neurological disorders.
  • Behavioral Analysis Center for Autism – work with behavioral analysis counselors who work with children/adults with autism teaching them communication and life skills
  • Elkhart County Clubhouse – drop-in house for adults with mental illness. Members help maintain and run the house. Interns join the members in the daily tasks and meetings.
  • Church Community Services – nonprofit organization with various services such as Soup for Success (empowerment/employment for women), food pantry, support groups.
  • Women’s Shelter – crisis center for women and children from domestic violence.
  • Elkhart County Special Education Coop – work with a school psychologist observing educational evaluations, team meetings, etc.
  • ADEC – organization for adults with disabilities. Interns work with one client on the unique goals for that individual (daily living skills, money management, employment, etc.)
  • The Crossing – an alternative school for youth who have struggled in traditional school. Faith-based organization that combines the traditional classroom with on-the-job-training.
  • Goshen Middle School- work with a school counselor and help co-lead group and one-on-one sessions.
  • Goshen City Behavioral Health- work with behavioral analysis counselors to help individuals with Autism and related diagnoses, in downtown Goshen.
  • Goshen Hospital Center for Cancer Care- work with mind and body counselors as they provide support for cancer patients and their loved ones.
  • LoveWay- a therapeutic horseback riding facility that helps individuals with physical, mental and emotional disabilities.
  • Horizon Education Alliance- help improve local education outcomes by supporting networks of business, school and community stakeholders to create initiatives to design, test and adopt solutions.
  • Greencroft- work with older adults who are living in a retirement community.
  • Bashor Children’s Home- a residential facility for youth that provides educational, behavioral and psychological interventions.
  • Bowen Center- community mental health center that provides comprehensive care and treatment for multiple mental health conditions.
  • Ryan’s Place- work with bereavement counselors to provide grief support to children, teens and families.
  • Maple City Health Care Center- local Goshen provider of affordable health care services for the community.
  • Waterford Crossing- a residential/assisted living community that provides care and support for older adults.
  • Triple P: Positive Parenting Program- help develop skills, strategies and confidence to handle parenting situations.
  • Research Assistant- work with professors at Goshen College or local psychologists as research assistants.
  • Goshen NeuroCare Center, medical clinic for neurological problems/disorders: shadow physicians and nurses, administer mental status exams.
