The Newcomer Center, Tuesday,July 7th, 2015 Write On Sports met with Justin Gillette and Bill Beck. Bill Beck interveiwed him Justin Gillette and then we interveiwed him. He told us how he got started with running, he started running on February 14th, 1996, it started when he ran from his house to a general store and got a doughnut and then walked home. Then he started training and running because he liked it and he wanted to outrun this kid in P.E class.”I got up at 5:45 everyday” said Gillette.
Justin Gillette has been running ever since then, breaking records at Goshen College, marathons and training. He has run one hundred-sixty to about one hundred eighty marathons, he has won 83 of those marathons. He trains everyday but he has spent more time away from home this past year, so that makes it harder for him to train. He has also not trained as much because of family. Justin Gillettes training schedule is he eats lunch at 11:15 and then takes a nap at 1:00 then after that at 2:00 he will go for a 14 mile run, so he will take the first two miles easy and then the ten miles at race speed and then the last two miles is a jog. That’s the life of a runner.
