Today we interviewed Errick McCollum through Skype at the Goshen College Newcomer Center. Our conversation was long and full of information.
McCollum believes that he would be a great NBA player because he doesn’t get into any off-court problems.
“You would never see nothing negative about me.”
He said that his teammates wouldn’t have to worry about him getting on the news or in the newspaper for getting aggressive outside of basketball games.
McCollum’s mother and father both played basketball in their youth. Both enjoyed playing very much. But they both had to stop because of life situations. They still wanted their son to be able to enjoy and continue to play the sport he loves to this day.
Even off court, McCollum would be practicing. During college, he would dribble a tennis ball through the halls. People looked at him funny. Between classes he would be on the court shooting hoops.
Along with basketball, McCollum played baseball and track during high school years.
“Ironically, I was better at baseball.” But he enjoyed playing basketball more, so he focused on basketball more than baseball.
