Puerto Rico
This blog shares the experiences of Goshen College students participating in the Study-Service Term in Puerto Rico.
Over three immersive weeks, students are exploring the theme of Hispanic Identities and Resilience, engaging deeply with the island’s history, culture and community life. From walking the colorful streets of Old San Juan and visiting museums that tell stories of Taíno heritage, Spanish colonialism and contemporary identity, to living with host families in Aibonito and connecting with students at a local Mennonite school, this journey blends cultural study with personal reflection and service. Through these reflections, readers are invited into the moments shaping how students understand community, identity and resilience in Puerto Rico and beyond.
