Puerto Rico: Baseball, Beaches, and Culture

Apr 27 2026

Puerto Rico, here we come!  As we wrapped up the semester and baseball season this past week, we are now turning our attention to our time in Puerto Rico in May.  It will be a unique experience centered on reflections regarding the place baseball has played in the lives of the students in this group, as well as the place baseball has played in the lives of the Puerto Ricans that we come into contact with while we are there.  Students will encounter a climate, food, and culture that are different from what many of them have experienced in their lives up until this point.  They will have the opportunity to experience the beauty of new places and new cultures, as well as deepen their gratitude for the elements of their own lives that have brought them joy.  Throughout these three weeks, they will learn some of the unique elements that have shaped Puerto Rico into the place it is today.  It will be a rich time of reflecting on what the coming years hold for each of them, and allow them to reflect on who they are in the world and who they want to be.  Oh, and we’ll also play some baseball while we’re there!
