Assistant Softball Coach

Goshen College seeks applicants for an Assistant Softball Coach. The assistant must demonstrate a willingness to support our student athletes in achieving the aforementioned institutional goals. The assistant coach must be aligned with the core values of Goshen College, and those of the softball program.

Although this is a part-time position, individuals will be responsible for assisting the head coach in all facets of running a successful collegiate softball program. Primary responsibility of this position is the development of the Goshen College pitching staff.

Individuals are responsible for learning and upholding the guidelines and regulations of Goshen College, the Crossroads League and the NAIA.

Qualifications:

Required-

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • CPR, AED, First Aid required (can be completed after hire)
  • Ability/willingness to assist with softball field/facility maintenance

Preferred-

  • Previous playing or coaching experience, collegiate level experience will be given additional consideration
  • Experience in development of fastpitch softball pitchers
  • Knowledge of national athletic governing bodies and associated compliance manua

Essential Functions:

Coaching-

  • Assist the head coach in planning, directing, and coaching the intercollegiate team, develop student-athletes’ full potential while following guidelines and ethics established nationally and by the institution.
  • Assist with the development and program promotion by encouraging academic success, community engagement, and student leadership.
  • Attend practice and competition under direction of the head coach.
  • Assist with recruiting.
  • Willingly represent Goshen College to the broader constituency and Goshen community as deemed appropriate.
