Brendyn describes himself as “never the shy type of guy.” After his previous college plans changed for financial reasons, he turned to Goshen based on advice from a friend. When he came to the college and found that everyone talked to each other like they’d always known one another, he knew that GC was his kind of place. Meet more Goshen students and read their stories.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE GOSHEN COLLEGE?
“A friend of mine recommended Goshen to me and when I came to visit, I felt like I was a student already. I knew it was the perfect place for me. Financially speaking, Goshen made it possible for me to attend, thanks to some help from the great financial aid department. I can honestly say that deciding to attend Goshen was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”
WHAT OPPORTUNITIES HAVE YOU HAD HERE?
“I had the opportunity to participate in the Goshen Lavender Jazz band as the drummer. I’ve also participated in different jazz trios and rock bands around the school and the city itself.”
WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO DO WITH YOUR DEGREE?
“After graduating I would like to pursue my music career, traveling and playing around the nation. I have already started to travel just in this past summer with different artists. But I want to do this full time instead of just in the summer. I would also like to teach music to up-and-coming musicians and be a role model to children who need that person they can look up to.”
WHAT MAKES GOSHEN DIFFERENT?
“In this past year I’ve learned that Goshen is not just a school: It’s a community. Which means that you’re never alone when you’re struggling. You always have help around you. Goshen is a community where people can feel comfortable around each other. In big colleges you don’t have that same community because they’re too big and have too many students.”
