Goshen College Symphony Orchestra fall concert
The Goshen College Symphony Orchestra (GCSO) presented a family-friendly concert featuring music inspired by the children’s book “Old Turtle,” on Friday, Nov. 21.
GCSO performed Linda Tutas Haugen’s composition “The Fable of Old Turtle,” inspired by the children’s book by Douglas Wood. The performance featured the composer as narrator, along with Native American flutist Keith Bear. The program also included a performance of Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Carnival of the Animals,” featuring Goshen College music professors Matthew Hill and Kathryn Schmidt performing duo-piano. Rounding out the program were performances of selected movements from “The Nutcracker” suites by Tchaikovsky and Duke Ellington. The Goshen College Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Christopher Fashun, assistant professor of music.
