Katie Sowers ’09 recognized among UCM’s top young alumni

atie Sowers ’09 recently received 10 Under 40 recognition by the University of Central Missouri (UCM) Alumni Foundation’s Next Generation Council. This recognition program highlights the achievements of most recent UCM alumni.
Sowers graduated from Goshen College with a degree and physical education. In 2013 she completed a master’s in kinesiology from UCM. In that same year, Sowers went on to win the International Federation of American Football Women’s World Championships with the U.S. Women’s National Team.
In 2020, Sowers became the first woman to coach in the Super Bowl. She built a groundbreaking career in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons and the San Francisco 49ers.
Sowers is currently the head coach of women’s flag football at the University of Nebraska. Before that, she and her twin sister, Liz Sowers, helped the Ottawa University women’s flag football team secure four national championships.
