Students with host mom on SST

This past weekend our host families celebrated Mother’s Day in style, with flowers, outings and cakes! Many of our students met extended family: grandmothers and aunts, as this is a grand celebration in Ecuador. We had our own little party on Monday celebrating our students and teachers who are mothers too!

Classes this week included guest speaker, Julian Guaman, a member of the pastoral team at Quito Mennonite Church. He spoke on indigenous people’s issues and organizations, including various demonstrations which led to more government recognition of indigenous rights.
