Berdine (Mininger) Leinbach ’87 to present “The Call of Creation” exhibit at the Mennonite Heritage Center on July 26

HARLEYSVILLE, PA  — Montgomery County, Pennsylvania artist and Goshen College graduate Berdine (Mininger) Leinbach ’87 will display her most recent art exhibit, “The Call of Creation,” at the Mennonite Heritage Center from July 26 to September 28, 2024.

Leinbach will be present at the exhibit’s opening on July 26. Additionally, she will share the stories behind the artwork on August 15 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

This exhibit invites viewers to connect with God and the natural world through a series of watercolor landscapes and spiritually inspired visuals.

Leinbach, known for her large realistic watercolors depicting local meadows and streams, will also showcase new more fluid creations rich in color and spiritual meaning. The exhibit includes interactive components designed to engage visitors of all ages.

A highlight of the exhibit is the unveiling of “Creation is Calling for Peace,” a collaborative artwork initiated by Leinbach with 11 artists from the Mosaic Mennonite Conference. This project, which began in August 2023, features individual wooden hexagons transformed by the artists to reflect the theme of peace through various artistic expressions. These hexagons are linked with fibers to symbolize the connections between colors, lines, patterns, movement, meaning and metaphor.

“The goal of the collaboration is to call for peace, promote mutual respect and seek reconciliation for the well-being of all,” said Leinbach. “We need to pray for peace and act for peace.”
