Tower of London

During our time here, we were able to attend events and attractions that were outside those that were required. So, some friends and I decided to head to the Tower of London! Upon entering, there were beefeaters and tons of stone buildings. My favorite part, which may sound a little off my rocker, was the torture chamber and the prison, I found it fascinating how these torture devices worked. The one I most remember, and the one that makes me the most queasy, is the stretcher. This is when someone would be laid down and have their wrists and ankles tied to the board. Then someone would turn a crank and the person strapped to the board would be stretched until their limbs tore off their body. Pretty brutal.

The other part I really liked, and was one of the main reasons we went, was the fact that Anne Boleyn was executed there. Nobody knew the exact spot of where the execution took place but they do know it was inside the walls of the Tower of London. Of course, many executions took place within the walls but Anne Boleyn’s was pretty famous given she was queen and she is in the popular musical, Six. It was really cool to get to learn a little more about the history about her.

If you’re ever in London, I highly recommend the Tower of London with the incredible view of my personal favorite structure, Tower Bridge. It was an amazing experience and I’m glad I decided to go because I was unsure until I saw the physical structure. You are able to see the crown jewels, armories, and there’s even a huge metal dragon. It was truly an experience I could only get in London and I am very glad I had the opportunity to go. 🙂
