Open Air Markets, Dancing, and Reflection….

As the current SST’ers celebrated the one-month anniversary of their SST adventure, they experienced the unique sights, sounds, and smells of an open-air market, helped prepare a traditional Ecuadorian meal, learned some Latin dance, spent time with refugees hearing their heart-wrenching stories, and learned some of the unique differences between “western” and indigenous Andean worldviews.

Amidst these new and uniquely varied experiences, we all enjoyed a visit from our Goshen College colleagues, the Director and Assistant directors of SST.  Sprinkled within these unique experiences, we also had the opportunity to reflect on all we’re learning about ourselves and the broader world.  One of the great gifts of SST is the opportunity to gain new and deeper perspectives on the world and what we hold most dear in our own lives….
