A Day of Rest

May 09 2022

Today we had a late morning, which was a very nice change from our 8 am’s, but the sun called us to be up at 7am to watch the sunrise anyway. At 10am we attended the Layton Baptist church and got to meet some local residents that we had “met” in the Deep Dive documentary last night! It was an interesting church to attend. The youth were the main component of the worship band and that was really neat to see. Everyone was very welcoming and we were even invited to a cookout later in the week.
We then went out to eat at the Islamorada Fish Company for lunch and afterwards we went to Sombrero beach to spend the rest of the afternoon. Before driving back to Layton we did a weekly visit to the grocery store. It was nice to have a day of rest since our time here so far has been quite full, but I am also looking forward to getting started on research projects this week.
