Welcome SSTers!

Sep 03 2021

On Tuesday evening our SSTers arrived safely in Ecuador and are beginning their orientation to their new Ecuador surroundings! One student has been held up by visa issues. We are working hard to remedy the problem and plans are taking shape for her to rejoin the group soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with her.

In this first week students are participating in a 3-day orientation; so far this has included an introduction to the Cofán Survival Foundation, our partner organization; excursions to different destinations around the city, including the historical downtown and some of Quito’s wonderful urban parks; conversations about culture; and expectations for the months ahead.
We’re excited to get to know this group of five–soon to be six!!–and to see the way this experience shapes them and the way they shape this experience. Welcome SSTers!
