The Bulletin archive fully digitized

Jan 09 2026

The Bulletin, Goshen College’s official magazine, is now available online in its entirety thanks to the digitization work of the Mennonite Historical Library (MHL) and its partnership with the Internet Archive. Every issue, dating back to 1903, is available on the Internet Archive’s site.

“As executive editor, I see the magazine as a living record of Goshen College’s rich history, creative people and deep values. It is the embodiment of how this is the place where everything connects,” said Jodi Beyeler, the magazine’s executive editor and vice president for institutional advancement. “Bringing the full publication online allows us to steward those stories more faithfully — preserving them, expanding their reach and making them accessible to anyone who wants to understand who we have been and who we are becoming.”

Eric Bradley, head librarian of the MHL, agreed with Beyeler, saying, “The Bulletin is an important source for Goshen College history, alongside the Maple Leaf yearbooks and The Record. Digitization allows these to be accessible to a wide audience, and full text searching saves the MHL substantial staff time from thumbing through old issues to answer the various inquiries we receive.”

Bradley was heavily involved in the process of working with the Internet Archive to digitize the historical issues. GC and the Archive have an ongoing relationship, and the Internet Archive handled all the scanning and uploading of the issues. First, though, Bradley had to sort through all of the Bulletin materials, decide what would be scanned and what would not, and eventually pass the copies along to the Archive. And, of course, this would not have been possible without the careful preservation that the MHL has ensured for The Bulletin.

Each issue is text-searchable and is available for the general public to read at the link below.
