Goshen College to host Latino communication and media event on April 4

Latinos in communication and media event: “Nuestras historias: Our journeys as Latinos in the communication and media profession”

GOSHEN, IND. – Goshen College will host “Nuestras historias: Our journeys as Latinos in the communication and media profession,” an event highlighting the experiences and journeys of Latinos in communication and media professions.

The event is free and open to the public and will take place on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Church-Chapel Fellowship Hall.

Pedro Guerrero, main speaker

The event’s main speaker will be Pedro Guerrero, CEO of Guerrero Executive Advancement Company. Guerrero currently hosts the “Latino Majority” podcast and serves as editor of the “Hispanic Executive” magazine.

Guerrero previously served as president of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization Chicago chapter. Recognized for his leadership, Guerrero was honored with a fellowship from the Stanford Latino Entrepreneur Initiative in 2015 and named a Business Leader of Color by Chicago United in 2017. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College, where he was awarded a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship, and a Master of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

The event will begin at 4 p.m. with networking opportunities, refreshments and music. At 4:30 p.m., a panel consisting of Goshen College Latina communication and broadcasting students Sarah Lopez Ramirez, Mariela Esparza, Macinsy Sanchez and Lily Herrera, will share their experiences.

At 5 p.m., there will be a break accompanied by music from Potential Novelty.

Guerrero will take the stage at 5:30 p.m. and discuss his leadership to the intersection of media, professional networks, and executive searches. Following his presentation, there will be another break at 6:20 p.m., featuring music from ECo Mariachi.

The event will conclude with a panel discussion featuring local Latino communication and media professionals at 6:30 p.m. The panelists include Sergio Ortiz from Wieden + Kennedy, Vanessa Padilla from The Goshen News and Sahib Ramirez from The Goshen Chronicles.

The college’s Hispanic-Serving Institution Committee, Communication Department and Career Networks Office are co-sponsors of the event.
