Goshen College welcomes new employees for 2022-23

Goshen College welcomed new employees for the 2022-23 school year, some of whom were hired and began their duties earlier this year.

New teaching faculty:

Robin Ebright Zehr is visiting assistant professor of social work. Ebright Zehr received a bachelor’s in psychology and sociology from Hope College and went on to earn a master’s in social work from Indiana University South Bend. She is a licensed clinical social worker with extensive clinical and managerial experience.  Most recently, she was director of Adult Therapeutic Services at Oaklawn Psychiatric Center.

Jeanette Harder is professor of social work and program director of the master’s of social work program, which is currently in development. She received a bachelor’s degree in Bible from Grace University (Nebraska) and  master’s and doctoral degrees in social work from the University of Texas, Arlington. She brings 18 years of experience as a professor and researcher from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. There, she founded and managed a university program evaluation center. Harder has also published books and peer-reviewed articles, primarily on the prevention of child abuse and neglect.

Vicki Hershberger is assistant professor of nursing. She earned an associate’s degree from Glen Oaks Community College to start her nursing career and then completed the RN to BSN program at Goshen College. Hershberger is currently enrolled in a Master of Science in Nursing degree program at Ball State University. She has work experience at hospitals in Guatemala, Pennsylvania, Kansas and Indiana, and is continuing to practice nursing at Goshen Health.

Luke B. Kreider is assistant professor of religion and sustainability. He is a 2008 Goshen College graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Bible and religion. He earned a master’s degree in religion from Yale Divinity School and a doctoral degree from the University of Virginia. Kreider has served as lecturer in Christian ethics at Yale Divinity School, adjunct faculty at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary and Goshen College, and master’s degree program manager at the University of Virginia.

Sara Method is assistant professor of art. She received a bachelor’s degree in both studio art and art history from Salem College in North Carolina. She later earned a Master of Arts degree in art history from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Fine Arts in studio arts from Western Carolina University. Method brings teaching experience from Central Piedmont Community College and Herron School of Art & Design (Indianapolis).

Elizabeth Miller is assistant professor of history and director of the Institute for the Study of Global Anabaptism. She is a 2006 Goshen College graduate with a bachelor’s degree in history, and earned a master’s in theological studies, with distinction, from Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary. She served as Mennonite Central Committee’s program director for Colombia-Ecuador in Bogota for the past five years.

Raquel Montañez-Gonzalez is assistant professor of biology. She received a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Puerto Rico, Cayey, and a doctoral degree in biological sciences from the University of Notre Dame in 2020. She has worked at the University of Notre Dame as a recruiter, visiting assistant teaching professor and researcher.

Peter Shenk Koontz is assistant professor of nursing. He graduated from Goshen College in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in history before pursuing a master’s degree at the Boston University, School of Theology in theology and ethics. He also earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Boston University. In addition to teaching, Shenk Koontz is a psychiatric nurse practitioner at Oaklawn Psychiatric Center.
