Day Five: Singing, rainforests, and waves!

We began our Wednesday at the beautiful Robinson school where we sang for middle and high school students. Their shiny gymnasium held especially good acoustics, resonating our voices as well as the reactions of those in the audience. As mentioned previously, we have had the opportunity to have Becky Stoltzfus with us, who has continued to support us at concerts, greet us with warm hugs, and be a smiling and familiar face for us in the audience. After we serenaded the students with our performance, we departed for lunch at the nearby outlets, which had two incredible sculptures, one of a lion and one of Buzz Lightyear.

Today was an especially exciting day because we were able to visit El Yunque National Forest. We were split into three groups of twenty, where we drove in small buses, (which happened to be called Goshen Coach buses) to three different destinations in the rainforest; La Cocoa waterfall, Yokahu Tower, and a scenic bridge overlooking a waterfall. We had so much fun exploring, taking pictures, being sprayed by the waterfall, and breathing in the natural smells of the rainforest. The rainforest included seventeen miles worth of hiking, which we did not do, but enjoyed our time there regardless. The roads that we drove along were built between the 1930-1940s.

After exploring Puerto Rico’s beautiful rainforest, we ended our day with a spontaneous beach trip where there happened to be pony rides available in return for a donation. Our lucky choir member and friend, Clara, ecstatically was chosen to take a ride. The beach that we went to had restaurants and shops along the side where we had dinner and relaxed together after a busy couple of days.

Although we are dreading the very early morning call time that we have tomorrow, we are excited to perform at Summit Hills Mennonite Academy where our very own Lisa Rosado Rivera attended!
