This November, Goshen College Theater proudly presents a French farce, “The Metromaniacs,” adapted by American comic maestro David Ives. It’s springtime in Paris, 1738. Metromania, the poetry craze, is the latest thing. Damis, an erstwhile law student with a serious case of verse-mania falls for a mysterious poetess from Breton. Said poetess turns out to be a wealthy gentleman looking to reinvigorate his morose daughter. Of course, his daughter also happens to be cuckoo for couplets. Soon, scheming servants, verbal acrobatics, and mistaken identities launch a breathless whirl of chaos in this breezy “translaptation” of a rediscovered French farce by comedic master David Ives.
*The Nov. 22 performance will include ASL interpretation.
