Sustainable Design: Rieth Village

Sustainable Design: Rieth Village

"We are not just building a shelter: we are creating a teaching tool and a model for others who want to make environmentally sound choices." - Luke Gascho

Rieth Village is an ecological field station for undergraduate programs.  Two cottages provide housing for up to 32 students and a third cottage serves as the initial classroom and office building.

Rieth Village has been designed and constructed with a strong commitment to sustainability. It was conceived and designed to meet the highest standards of the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system. LEED buildings are required to meet rigorous standards in areas such as energy efficiency, water management, use of recycled materials and indoor air quality.  To find out more information on the design and construction of Rieth Village explore the links on this site or contact Merry Lea at (260)799-5869 or e-mail at merrylea@goshen.edu
