Institute for Latino Studies -Latino Art

While we were at the Institute for Latino Studies in Notre Dame, the Latino SST students received a tour of the institute and the different pieces of art and exhibitions.  The students learned that many of the art contained social justice issues such as immigration and gender issues. One of the galleries exhibitions “Soldaderas y Adelitas y Otras Mujeres Revolucionarias,” or “Women Revolutionists and other Revolutionary Women” featured work from Esperanza Gama, an international renown artist from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.  This special exhibition honored women from the Mexican Revolution and other women who have anonymously struggled to realize their Dreams.
