Much Ado About Nothing. Into the Woods. The Seagull. One-acts. Senior recitals. Master class workshops. There are countless opportunities for your talent to shine in the Theatre department, both onstage and behind the scenes.

As a theatre major, you’ll choose a concentration from among five options: acting/performance, design/technical, theater arts education, film studies, and generalist. Your coursework is grounded in the liberal arts, with an temphasis on communication and performance theory. You’ll explore theatre design, acting, voice and directing, as well as philosophical and artistic movements in theatre history.

And, of course, you’ll bring plays to life as actor, stage manager, costumer, lighting designer, choreographer and more.

Major in Physical Education / Minor in Physical Education

The physical education department is committed to fostering personal, intellectual, spiritual and social growth in all students within the context of human movement. The department accomplishes this mission through three curricular components. First, a wellness course serves the general education curriculum, offering both the acquisition of wellness knowledge and the development of a personalized wellness plan. Second, a major and a minor in physical education prepare graduates for a variety of careers. Third, elective courses in physical activity provide opportunities for students in any major to develop lifetime sport and exercise skills.

Coaching Endorsement

Students in any teaching major may supplement their studies with an endorsement in junior high and high school coaching. GC’s coaching endorsement program is certified by the state of Indiana and includes courses in first aid and CPR, basic athletic training and the theories and techniques of coaching.
