Indiana’s oldest BSN program, and still going strong.

Nursing and Public Health Programs
Explore Each Program
Of all the skills I learned in the Goshen College nursing program, the ones that resonate most are how to communicate with and accept patients from cultures different than mine, to assess patients thoroughly with a holistic approach, to treat patients as I would want my own family treated, and to take the extra time to listen to patients’ concerns and advocate for them.

A New Home for Nursing and Public Health
- A $21 million home in Westlawn Hall: you study in the newly renovated Center for Nursing and Public Health, which reopened in 2025.
- Labs that feel like the real thing: some labs are built to look and function like actual hospital rooms, down to the beds and equipment, so you can work through patient scenarios on lifelike manikins before you ever step onto a hospital floor.
- A hospital partner across the street: Goshen Health sits directly across Main Street and helped make the renovation happen, which is one reason your training here lines up so closely with the clinical settings you’ll move into after graduation.

Health at the Community Level
- Zoom out from the patient to the population: public health looks at the health of whole communities and asks why some populations stay healthier than others, then focuses on what can actually be done about it through prevention and education.
- Work in the community before you graduate: a required internship or research project puts you out in the field while you’re still a student, like the public health students who surveyed pregnant residents in Elkhart County to help shape programs aimed at reducing infant mortality.
- Careers that reach wide: Goshen alumni have gone into clinics, schools, government agencies, nonprofits, and global health work across fields like epidemiology, health education, and policy, and many continue into graduate study in public health or medicine.
