Minor

As a political studies minor at Goshen College, you’ll dive into the ideas, institutions and power structures that shape societies and drive global change. Whether you’re interested in law, government, education, advocacy or nonprofit leadership, this program equips you with the critical thinking and communication skills to lead with insight and purpose.
You’ll explore U.S. and international politics in small, discussion-based classes, work closely with experienced faculty and gain hands-on experience through research, internships and community engagement. Along the way, you’ll learn to evaluate complex issues at the intersection of politics, history, economics and culture.
Our alumni have gone on to graduate school, law school, government work, and leadership positions in peacebuilding, business and diplomacy.

At Goshen College, you won’t just study politics—you’ll experience it firsthand. As a political studies minor, you’ll have opportunities to intern with local government offices, advocacy groups, law firms or international NGOs, gaining practical skills and insights along the way. You can also conduct original research, present at academic conferences and contribute to campus initiatives focused on civic engagement and social justice.
Through GC’s Study-Service Term program, you’ll connect global political concepts with real-world experiences in diverse cultural settings. Whether you’re analyzing systems in the classroom or advocating for change in your community, your education will be immersive, relevant and impactful.
Students in the political studies program are eligible for academic scholarships and additional aid through the Financial Aid Office.
Political studies students benefit from access to the Good Library’s strong humanities collections, dedicated faculty offices and opportunities to attend regional academic conferences. You’ll also connect with community organizations through service and internship placements.
