    Hands-On Learning Opportunities

    Physics at Goshen College is rooted in hands-on experience. You’ll work on projects that reinforce your classroom learning and give you tangible skills in scientific reasoning, lab techniques and technical communication.

    Through special projects, you’ll explore real-world physics topics in depth, individually or in teams, while honing your writing and presentation skills. Recent student projects have included:

    • Designing and constructing electric guitars
    • Exploring solar photovoltaic energy systems
    • Investigating the properties of musical overtones
    • Developing a ping pong ball launcher for motion analysis

    You can also participate in the eight-week Maple Scholars summer research program, which pairs students with faculty for full-time research.
