Description
Alt and Witzig is seeking a Project Staff position who has an interest in the specific areas of focus to include: due diligence, soil and groundwater remediation, hazardous waste, water and wastewater environmental permitting and compliance, solid waste, environmental and human health risk assessment. The position may also require participation in all phases of a project (report preparation, study, research, design, modeling, testing, field sampling, etc.). The ideal candidate needs to be a detail oriented, well organized Engineer, Geologist or Environmental Scientist to join our firm in the Indianapolis area. Candidates can expect to work on teams which are staffed with engineers and scientists from various backgrounds and experience levels. Position requires adherence to health and safety procedures, attention to detail, strong work ethic and excellent communication skills. Some travel may be required. Responsibilities will include a combination of field and office related tasks.
Office Responsibilities May Include The Following
• Report preparation, peer review deliverables, and training/managing staff associated with due diligence projects.
• Candidate willingness to possess a comprehensive understanding of AAI, ASTM, and IDEM standards/regulations and an in-depth understanding of land owner liability protections.
• Successful candidate will have excellent technical writing and communication.
• Conducting project related research (historical data, regulations, etc.)
• Preparing periodic status/program reports
Field Activities May Include The Following
• Soil, groundwater, and air sampling in compliance with State/Federal standards
• Oversight of drilling operations (installing monitoring wells and soil descriptions)
• Coordinating work schedules with subcontractors
• Lead paint, asbestos surveys and wetland investigations
Qualifications
Required Skills
• This position requires both field and office work, field work may be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes
• Candidates must also be able to meet the physical demands associated with performing field work, including lifting equipment and working outdoors in inclement weather.
• Candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills, the ability to work well in a team environment
• The ideal candidate will have efficient time management and flexibility
Required Experience
• Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Geology, Chemistry, or other related science field or equivalent work experience
